Les Brevieres Resort Info

Tignes-les-Brevières (1550m) is a small skiing village in the French Alps near (but slightly lower than) the better-known ski resort of Val d'Isère.

Due to geographical location the village receives as much snowfall as its higher neighbours.

Les Brevieres is a traditional village and is much more picturesque than the other villages that make up the resort of Tignes. It has grown in size in recent years and now offers many more facilities whilst still retaining its charm. It is also considerably cheaper to stay in than either Val d'Isère or Tignes.

The ski season is very long in Espace Killy with the lifts opening around December 1 and closing after the May Bank Holiday around May 6-8. Skiing down to Brevieres is usually very good late season due to the extensive use of snow cannons on the runs to the village.

The village has a nursery slope with a free drag lift.

Connections to the rest of the Espace Killy are fast via a gondola then a chair. It takes about 20 minutes on the lifts, followed by one piste into Tignes Le Lac. Alternative routes are available, either 3 chairs up and the same piste down, or one chair to Tignes les Boisses followed by a free bus up to Tignes. Returning to Tignes les Brevieres requires just one chair lift (Chaudannes) which takes 6 minutes from Tignes le Lac.

Some of the Village facilities:
3 ski shops
ESF ski school
small supermarket
tabac
cash point
9 bars & restaurants

Eating Out

Tignes Les Brevieres has an excellent selection of restaurants, most run by local families with bags of passion. Most of the menus have the Savoyard favourites such as fondu, raclette (wheel of cheese!) and Pirard (meats cooked on stone) but there is plenty more to offer. Le Brevieres is a very popular spot for skiers at lunch time and especially later in the season the terraces are full of sun loving holiday makers.

L'armailly
The heart of the Tignes Les Brevieres restaurants, the Armailly offers a cosy savoyard ambiance like no other. The menu choises are varied but with all the classic dishes you would expect from a traditional familiy restaurant. Atentive service coupled with helpful advice on food and wine.

Dishes include, traditional style veal, lamb sweetbreads with parsley and garlic, Potted round fillets of pork, leg of lamb... to the more classic but nonetheless tasty grilled meats, savoie specialities and homemade pizzas.

Le Bachal
Located in the centre of the resort Le Bachal is tucked away and if you are not careful you might miss this gem of a restaurant all together. Oozing atmosphere and with an excellent menu Le Bachal is a real family favourite. Nothing is too much trouble and the family run restaurant is very good value for money. Dishes include Fondu, Raclette, Pirard, Duck confit and many more.

La Bouida
Situated next to the piste La Bouda is the perfect spot to relax after a long days skiing, Hot Wine and Hot chocolates are in abundance and with outside heaters for those January afternoons. In olden times the word 'la bouida' meant the little cave. it was here that provisions were kept to protect them from the extreme changes in weather conditions.

Nowadays the little cave serves up excellent Savoyard specials such as raclette, fondu and pirard. Live bands usually play once a week in the second room.
